Easy Stress Relief

Here's something that my brother passed to me and is now stuck on my room wall:

It makes a good conversation piece, thats for sure. Useful for offices too, i can imagine. The picture on my blog is very small... if you want it, go to the CommFrontiers Site.

Just dont place it in a place where you're likely to get drunk at... Seriously!

Spring Cleaning

I am on a tropical island. I am at peace...

I feel the warm breeze running through my hair, and catch the salty smell of the ocean. Looking up, i blink involuntarily at sunbeams peeking through between the rustling leaves of the coconut trees, dancing playfully across the sand at my toes, teasing the little crustaceans hurrying about their business.

Well, they seem to be busy.. but not me! Taking a sip of my Pina Colada, i close my eyes and immerse myself in the splendour of my surroundings. The haunting sound of ocean waves washing up on shore, the cry of seagulls hovering overhead, the sound of a vaccuum cleaner..

What?!!! What vacuum cleaner?

Crash! *Pop!*

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Mum : Oei! WAKE UP LA!! Time to do your spring cleaning!

Me : Hnzzg... What time is it?

Mum : 10 am already! We were cleaning since 9! WAKE UUUUP! CNY coming already!

Me: Okay okay...

And so began my Saturday.. I knew i shouldnt have slept at 6am this morning.. but hey, when the opportunity comes to catch up with friends, you grab it by the horns and dont let go right?

Right?

Right?

...

So, bleary eyed and armed with garbage bag in hand, i rummage through my cupboards one by one.. Junk *fling*.. Junk.. *fling*.. more junk.. *fling*.. Junk... *fling*... WAIT!! That was a sock! Omg what am i doing? This is my sock cupboard! They're all socks!!!

(one cold shower and one hot cup of Double-Sachet Aik Cheong Coffee later)

There we go! my room is nice and presentable now. The floor is swept, mopped and vacuumed. The walls dusted, the fan clean, my table looks neat all my old old clothes are finally thrown out. I also finally replaced my x-ray curtains with something thicker to keep out the evil evil sun in the mornings.

Before.. see the evil sunlight shining through

After, sweet darkness!

I'm glad its all over, i wouldn't want to go through all that ordeal again any time soon. Thank goodness spring cleaning only comes once a year...

Now to start painting the gate for my mum. Whee.

Welcome to 2006

So its finally happened... 2006 came charging into the picture on its gallant steed, kicking the old and decrepit 2005 out the window of hesternal oblivion. Haha! Out! Out! You senile old fool!

Reflecting on days gone by, i try to recall my achievements in 2005... and this paltry list is all i could think of:

  1. I realised that i hated my ex-boss
  2. I got myself a Nintendo DS
  3. I met really interesting people, some i like a lot, some not too much.
  4. I had a car accident, making my Insurance NCB rate back to RM1000+
  5. I discovered Bangkok Jazz
  6. I forged closer frienships with my existing friends
  7. I had my hair raped cut
  8. I went to Genting Highlands, but do not want to talk about it... ever
  9. I bought my own laptop
  10. I quit my job
  11. I discovered that Toblerone comes in 3 different flavours, and they come from Switzerland

Anyway...

Went out for our annual New Year's outing yesterday. I must say that it was quite an enjoyable experience, meeting up with old friends who have been away or busy with their own lives.

Largest Monopoly Board in the World, officiated by Guinness Book of Records, in 1Utama

Had lunch in Jack's Place X, a cosy little restaurant on the 1st Floor of 1U New Wing. The ambience itself is quite comfy, but there's something about the decor inside that reeks of "cheapness". I had a personal dislike for the tablecloths in particular.. green and white checkerboard design.

Apparently the black star is looming over waiters everywhere this month... how hard is it just to hold the camera still and press a button? See.. see the gawd-awful tablecloths!

This be my meal: pan fried Dory fish with unknown sauce, garnished with pathetic boiled carrots, peas and underage potatoes. Hmm wonder is any international potato laws were broken? Will i get arrested for playing with juvenile potatoes? (>^^)>~<(^^<)

The Sirloin Steak, also served with unknown sauce and the usual lineup of pathetic vegetables.. (did i mention the ugly tablecloth yet?)

The most expensive meal in Jack's Place X, the Special Steak! But as you can see.. yes yes.. its the same thing, you just get and extra ingredient in the shape of cylindrical unidentified special vegetables. Wowee.. what a treat.. bleh.

At times like these, you realise that it isnt what you do with your time, or where you go to spend it. The most important thing is the company!

Heres to the new year and all the promise it brings. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
